Your daughter/son has expressed an interest in becoming a member of the School’s Cheerleading squad. I am taking this opportunity to make you a little more aware of the club and what is involved.

As you may be aware, the cheerleaders take part in choreographed routines which involve a great deal of strenuous activity and energy. They are also involved with performing stunts, jumps and may be involved in gymnastic routines. While all precautions are taken to avoid any accidents occurring it is the nature of the activity that sometimes minor injuries do occasionally happen and this is the reason why if your daughter wishes to join I must have written parental permission stating that you are aware of the risks and still agree to your daughter taking part. I wish to assure you at this point that the squad is fully insured and that we have a qualified cheerleading coach, having passed recognised examinations in cheerleading safety. Obviously during practices the pupils are informed of the relevant safety techniques and are expected to adhere to these at all times. All cheerleaders must read the safety recommendations before attending practices.

Costumes/uniform – It will be necessary to purchase uniform to wear to practice & a set of pom poms. If applicable and not required immediately, a cheerleading dress for competitions & events. Cost of practice kit with pom poms is approximately £30. An order form will be sent to you nearer the time, it is possible to split the uniform payment into two parts.
